360 Degrees Longitude

Posted by Jason Hussong on Thursday, April 29, 2010,
I like to take books on vacations that I think with both last me the whole trip and also be possible to finish in the time that I'm gone. It's a delicate balance to strike as it's difficult to tell exactly how long it'll take you to read a book before you even pick it up as it could be rubish or it could be so good that you don't want to put it down, breezing through it in only a couple of days. Well, when I packed 360 Degrees Longitude: One Family's Journey Around the World for a recent road...

Around the World in 80 Days

Posted by Jason Hussong on Sunday, March 14, 2010,
I was walking through the book store the other day trying to kill some time. I had no where particular to be so I figured I'd go there and wander through the stacks for a while. This is something I enjoy doing from time-to-time, always hoping that I won't buy anything but instead just wander and enjoy killing a few hours with a bit of noisiness and people watching.

Adventures of a Continental Drifter

The practice of selling everything I own after packing a few essentials in a case and heading out the door to see the world has been a dream of mine for a long time. Based on another life I like to lead I'm not sure it's exactly practical, but I do envy those that can live the life like Caine from Kung Fu. One of those that lives such a life is Elliott Hester, and he's written a book that's called Adventures of a Continental Drifter: An Around-the-World Excursion into Weirdness, Danger, Lus...

Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World

Posted by Jason Hussong on Tuesday, August 18, 2009,
It's a bit delayed since it's publishing in 2004, but I just finished reading Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World by actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.

I had heard about the book a while ago, but had never picked it up until I heard about them publishing the next one, Long Way Down, where they ride their motorcycles from Scotland to South Africa.

According to Amazon.com, that second book is supposed to be released on paperback on June 9.

Long Way Round was such...
